Imaging Technologies
Basically, two-dimensional and three-dimensional imaging technologies are distinguished. Each imaging technology has its advantages/disadvantages and the appropriate imaging technology has to be chosen according to the application. Often, different imaging technologies complement each other and yield complementary information. For instance histology and microCT are ideal in combination since histology yields detailed information on the tissue level, where microCT can provide additional three-dimensional information, which can not be captured with histology.
